At CIGIDEN we work on understanding extreme natural events, their dimension and potential impacts, as well as the physical processes that define them, with the aim of reducing their consequences on different physical and social systems. We characterize seismic, tsunamigenic and flood threats using historical data, fieldwork, and modeling. The results of these investigations are giving new forms to the work of reformulation of evacuation systems through early warnings, threats and risk mapping.
